Neal Cuss
Neal started rallying with an Hillman imp and soon realised this was not quick enough. He navigated on a few rallies
with Martin Madge and Andy Carpenter, with servicing duties for his then employers Martin and Trevor Prew on various Mk2
Escorts and 6R4.
Neal says:- "I Built my own sunbeam 1600, Martin Madge doing most of the navigating. Again a little slow, so
fitted a 2ltr Pinto with famous persons as Pete Wood and Geoff Clifton navigating best result achieved being the last
rally with the car, 2nd in class at MIRA. Car sold to a chap in Ireland."
"Bought my current Subaru as a multi coloured shell + a few boxes of parts. Again navigated on rallies with Geoff
'sideways' Clifton, Ivan '2 WHEELS UP' Thompset, Justin 'last minute' Middleton and Mick Gregory, most having class
results along the way and a best for me of 4th o/a with Mick in the Sapphire at Oakington."
"Meanwhile, back in the garage, my Arrows Orange scooby is now finished debuting at Longcross in December 2003. A
few new car teething problems, notably a sick engine resulted in 21 o/a with Geoff along side me. Next rally, with Pete
Gillham, still learning the car, being a little too cautious 18 o/a last rally. This time with a girl called Katherine
White who had never done a rally before. We set 5th fastest on first stage, by my own admission we were flying -
eventually finishing 6 o/a, my best driving on a stage result so far (past Auto Tests & 12 car rallies a
different story!)."
