Richard’s views on a dramatic day’s sport -
We had a good start, 11 o/a after SS1, not been there before so having to learn the land! Track was nice but the infield
was rough, and as for the 100 meter farm track which I would not take a tractor down!!
SS2, going better now, took 27 seconds out of my SS1 time, no problems.
SS3 all ok, no problems, except for the spectators, which there was a lot of, standing in the most stupid places, one woman
crossing the stage in front on me, not wanting to spill her cup of tea, I was on the air horns!!
SS4, had a spin in the go-cart track, lost some time, rear tyres down to the wires, so having big side ways, now 6 o/a, 3rd
in class, [that’s with the 4wd boys].
SS5, all went wrong, caught a lorry tyre turning right, up on 2 wheels, came back down, lots of smoke in the car, got 100
meters on, lots of people waving me down, we are on fire! Power steering pipe burst, spraying the turbo, up she went!
When I stopped, we had flames out of the r/h wing, along the edge of the bonnet and from underneath Out with the halon,
bonnet off and we put it out, that’s the end for us!
Damage is not too bad, burnt the loom, and around the brake master cylinders etc, she will be back!!
Crap end to a good day, would have had a nice result!!
Cheers,
