2009 Club Championships

Thame Motorsport Club runs a series of championships for its members, including the Rally Drivers, Co-Drivers, Servicing / Marshalling Award & Social Cup which combine to find the Overall Club Champion.

PLEASE NOTE: Due to the low number of people who have submitted points claims this year the committee have taken the decision to cancel this year's championships. We know members have been competing but unless they are chased for results very few claims are received. It is therefore assumed that the members are not interested in the club championships and so the committee will no longer spend time chasing results and compiling the tables.

The Rally Drivers & Co-drivers Championships are open the all clubs members, who can score points on any events they choose to compete on. The points system aims to find the most successful competitors regardless of which class they compete on and takes in to account the level of the sport they compete at. We had 14 Rally Drivers & 16 Co-Drivers out in 2007.

The points system was revised in 2006 in order to better classify competitors in order of how well they do on their best rallies, rather than those people doing the most events automatically scoring the most points. The new system also makes calculation of points simpler. Therefore the points awarded for 2009 (shown in the table on the right) are as follows: -

  • A DNF will score 5 points regardless of how far through the event you get. (remember you can now drop your worst scores).

  • Finishing a rally outside of the top-10 in your class gets 10 points on National B rallies.

  • National A rallies (eg Manx, Bulldog etc.) or events over 2 or more days (eg. Rockingham, Jersey Rally) score 5 bonus points (except road rallies).

  • Finishing in the top-10 in your class or the top-3 overall scores bonus points.

  • 12-Car rallies just score 15pts for 1st down to 5pt for 10th or lower (i.e. no starting/finishing pts)

  • If a driver competes in a driving event other than a rally (eg 12-car, hill climb, autotest, race etc) the points will be scored as per the blue column (other events).

The Social Cup awards points as shown in the 'other events' category above, if they are competitive, (such as ten-pin bowling, autotest etc) and for non-competitive events 20pts for whole day and 10pts for ½ day events.

The Servicing / Marshalling Championship aims to recognise the efforts of those members who help organise, run and service on events. Points are awarded 20pts for a whole day and 10pts for half-day attendance. A named official role (e.g., clerk of the course, chief marshal etc. is worth 5 bonus points per day).

The Overall Club Championship is calculated by awarding points based on the position in each of the above championships:- 1st 30, 2nd 25, 3rd 22, 4th 20, then 19, 18, 17 etc. down to a minimum of 10 points for 14th or lower.
